The Old Year & The New Year
As the new year approaches, and I think about 2016, I can’t help but think of the year that past. I like looking back to see the way that things I once worried about finally worked out. Reflecting on this year, I think it’s incredible how much can happen from January to December. And, I can say this year was better than I could have imagined.
This year, I interned, studied, and graduated. Wohooo! I traveled to both new and very familiar places in North America and Europe. I moved to Norway to work at a restaurant on an island during the summer. And, I started a blog!
What strikes me in thinking about the new year, is that this year will be different. I’ll be living life without the school calendar I’ve had for the last sixteen years. Sometimes, when I think of these changes, little fears of the unknown start creep in, and I remind myself of the year that past. I remind myself that unknown that once existed always turned into a cherished memory. I tell myself to look forward to the things to come — to learning new things, going new places, visiting friends, and meeting new people.
The new year is a new chapter. There are 365 new pages full of possibility. There may, at times, be disappointment, but I hope there is also joy, happiness, spontaneity, and adventure.

Cheers to the New Year!
